Exploring Twitter responses to the 2010 Haiti earthquake through sentiment, subjectivity and keyword analysis in Python.
The question
A quantitative research project exploring social media responses to the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The analysis uses Twitter data to investigate language, sentiment and patterns in how people responded.
The approach
Python notebooks use pandas, spaCy and TextBlob to filter the dataset by date and analyse sentiment, subjectivity and keywords. Retweet and reply indicators add context to the text analysis.
Working with the data
The workflow combines word-level analysis with user-level summaries, grouping and merging features before exporting datasets for further investigation. The notebooks document the different stages of the analysis.
